About Us
Victor Tesler
Victor Tesler knew from an early age that he had a passion for two
things in life: computer programming and music.
Born in 1980 and raised alone by his mother without siblings or a substantial social circle, Tesler admits that his childhood was one marked by an ominous sense of alienation, one which propelled him into a deeply internal world of computer code and childhood dreams. Years later, after working in a local bar to earn some much-needed money, Tesler purchased his first computer, an old second hand IBM 486 and the path of apparently divergent passions became apparent. Drawn to writing computer code and a musical hobbyist who had played in local bands since his teenage years, Tesler began approaching musical composition with a new sense of purpose and professionalism.
Self-taught and self-driven, Tesler entered one of his original compositions at a local radio station music competition where he discovered that failure and success can occur simultaneously. Defeated by a track entitled Together composed by Alexey Popov under the monicker Time Is Up, Tesler immediately recognized the potential of collaborating with the contest winner and the two struck up a relationship based on mutual musical appreciation. While Alexey could compose melodies that haunted, inspired and lingered in the mind, Tesler had the computer and production skills to raise Time Is Up's sonic professionalism to an entirely new level.
Together with Alexey's guitarist brother, Albert, the duo began a period of intense musical exploration, offering up tracks to the local radio station as they went and garnering radio hits long before their album "Northern Dancer" was completed.
