About Us
Albert Popov
Born in 1971, Albert Leonidovich Popov was six years old when he began his study of music under his father's tutelage. Primed on piano, but disenchanted with its potential, Albert turned his musical ambitions
over to the guitar and has not looked back since.
Grounded by solid studies into the theory of music and inspired equally by classical, jazz and hard rock, he formed his first group in 1994 and captured top honours at a regional rock festival that same year. When Albert's original band broke up in 1999, he began an eclectic period of exploration, plunging into the realms of Dixieland, fusion and jazz improvisation. After capturing the ear of a well-known Russian music critic at an "Arctic-Jazz" festival in Murmansk, Albert became regarded as Murmansk's pre-eminent guitar virtuoso. Fueling his passion for music into ten years of teaching, Albert has now dedicated himself to Time Is Up where his wildly diverse guitar stylings provide an organic counter weight to the Victor Tesler and Alexey Popov's celestial electronic compositions.
